The Simulators
Using manikins in clinical simulations allows health care practitioners and students to “practice on plastic” first. These life-like manikins simulate heart tones and other vital cues that, when connected to monitors, provide real-time information to learners. By practicing clinical skills in a safe and regulated environment, health care providers can sharpen their assessment and treatment abilities.
Our center is equipped with a large array of simulators, ranging from low-fidelity task trainers to high-fidelity computerized manikins, some of which are described below.
Task Trainers
Task Trainers are used for teaching and practicing skills, competencies, and procedures. They include torsos for learning Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, arms designed with normal blood vessels for learning placement and care of intravenous lines, models with surgical wounds for learning suturing and wound care, back and spinal trainers for learning lumbar punctures.
The CSC is equipped with the following task trainers, listed with their associated skills. Numbers in parentheses indicate available quantity for each.

SimScope Wi-Fi
SimScope™ plays the programmed heart, breath and bowel sounds specific to each correct anatomical location enabling a realistic standardized patient encounter.
Up to 20 patches may be programmed and simultaneously activated with heart, breath, bowel, and bruit sounds to simulate real time auscultation during a physical exam.
Suturing Pads
This simulator exhibits a realistic 3-layer skin pad for the demonstration and training of a variety of incisions and a wide range of suturing techniques.

- Identification of lymph nodes (axillary, supra & infraclavicular)
- Location and diagnosis of pathologies
Little Anne CPR Training Torsos
- A realistic airway construction means that the airway naturally remains obstructed without the use of proper head tilt, chin lift or jaw thrust. This leads to more realistic training as chest rise will be seen when correct ventilations are made.
- Little Anne’s anatomically correct torso and sternal notch allow the student to practice identification of all anatomical landmarks relevant to conducting adult CPR training.
- Realistic oral and nasal passages allow for mouth-to-mouth ventilation.
