Put the Rubber to the Road-In Situ Simulation

Dr. Guillaume Alinier, Professor of Simulation in Healthcare Education at the University of Hertfordshire, UK, and the Director of Research at Hamad Medical Center Ambulance Service, Qatar, was the invited guest speaker to deliver a workshop titled “Put the Rubber to the Road- In Situ Simulation”, on Monday April 8, 2019.  The workshop that gathered physicians from LAU Medical Center- Rizk Hospital and from other hospitals, was a great opportunity for participants to discuss the implementation of the In Situ simulation program in their own departments.

In situ simulation, simulation that is physically integrated into the clinical environment, is considered as a rich resource to identify hazards and deficiencies in the clinical systems, the environment, and the provider team, that can compromise patient safety especially in high-risk areas. Various operational challenges faced during the implementation of the In situ simulation were shared by the participants and discussed in length with Dr. Alinier.
