Clinical Simulation Center (CSC)

Pediatric Crisis Resource Management Workshop

On Friday, November 17, 2017, the first Pediatric Crisis Resource Management workshop took place in the LAU Clinical Simulation Center. Residents from the Pediatric, the Emergency, and the Anesthesia departments gathered under the supervision of Dr. Abeer Hani, Dr. Ninette Hawat, Dr. Christelle Malek and Dr. Maroun Matar to practice and learn more about Pediatric emergencies. Scenarios of neonatal distress, status asthmaticus, status epilepticus, and PALS were presented.

Residents were exposed to a multidisciplinary approach in the management of those pediatric emergency cases. The atmosphere was pleasant, calm, organized and educational. A debriefing session followed each scenario. At the end, participants watched and analyzed a video on team-based approach.

“This activity would not have been possible without the setup offered by the LAU-Clinical Simulation Center and its helpful staff members”, said Dr. Matar. “Hopefully, this will open the door to more simulation-based learning activities in the future”, she added. Most of the equipment was acquired by the Center through a generous grant obtained from American Schools and Hospital Abroad (ASHA).
