The Continuing Medical Education Office and the Clinical Simulation Center at the Lebanese American University invites you to take part in its workshop:

“Ensuring Success of In Situ Simulation”

By Dr. Guillaume Alinier

On Saturday, April 28, 2018
From 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

at the LAU Clinical Simulation Center
Chagoury Health Sciences Center, 4300, 4th floor, Byblos Campus

In situ simulation, a simulation that is physically integrated into the clinical environment is considered as a rich resource to identify hazards and deficiencies in the clinical systems, the environment, and the provider team, that can compromise patient safety especially in high-risk areas. The aim of this workshop is to understand the rationale, discuss the benefits and the operational challenges faced during In situ simulation training.

Target Audience: This workshop is designed for all Healthcare Professionals

This workshop is provided by Dr. Guillaume Alinier

Dr. Alinier is Professor of Simulation in Healthcare Education at the University of Hertfordshire (Hatfield, UK) and Visiting Fellow at Northumbria University (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK). He is currently the Director of Research at Hamad Medical Center Ambulance Service (Doha, Qatar).

Dr. Alinier has been actively involved in simulation-based education (SBE) since 2000. He has a wide range of experience in SBE across most healthcare professions and modalities. In 2006 he was the recipient of a UK Higher Education Academy National Teaching Fellowship for his innovative work in SBE supporting all university health programs, developing educators to the practice of simulation as an experiential learning approach, and collaborating with hospitals across the region on SBE initiatives. Dr. Alinier has been involved in numerous projects internationally with various simulation societies with regards to accreditation and certification, but also with academic and healthcare institutions with regards to simulation center design and faculty development. Dr. Alinier is now based in Qatar where he works for Hamad Medical Corporation Ambulance Service as Director of Research and is involved in various significant SBE projects in relation to patient safety, team training, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and major incident preparedness using full-scale simulation and tabletop exercises.
